The loved ones of teens unaccounted for after a deadly fire at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are confronting an painful wait for answers and requesting clues about their loved ones online.

The blaze devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Confirmed images reveal the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the disaster, which killed numerous partygoers and injured another over a hundred. Authorities said on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with work continuing to name the final individuals.

In the meantime, families and friends have been posting on social media to appeal for any news about their friends who were at the bar that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The Italy's government has confirmed that a number of of its young people are still unaccounted for.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has stated that he is deceased, without directly referencing the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him passion and authentic values."
