Dominant Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.

Aryna Sabalenka in action
Aryna Sabalenka finished the season with an outstanding twenty-three to three Grand Slam match record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive season.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She received almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Winners

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.

  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
